Payments:
An advance deposit of 50% of the total cost of the stay is required to secure your reservation. If paying by credit card (Visa or Mastercard) the deposit is processed within 3 business days of making your reservation. If paying by personal check or money order, the deposit must be received in our office within 10 days of making the reservation. The remaining balance, plus taxes, is charged to the credit card on file 5 days before your arrival. A $25.00 fee will be charged for returned checks. If staying longer than 2 weeks, a security deposit will be required. A 9.75% Tax is added to all reservations (Sales Tax and Occupancy Tax).

Check In/Check Out Times:
Check in time is 4:00 PM, EST. The housekeeping staff needs this time to insure that the unit will be clean and orderly. Please call our office if you will be checking in after 9:00 PM for information on obtaining the keys to the unit. Check out time is 10:00 AM. This is necessary if someone is checking in after you. If you stay past the check out time you will be charged for a full night stay. At the time of making your reservation we will take your check in information (license number, car make and model) so that you may go directly to your cabin.

Cancellation Policy:
If cancelling a six (6) day or less reservation we must be notified 48 hours in advance of the reservation. If your stay is one (1) week or longer, we must receive a two (2) week notification prior to the reservation. If these terms are not met you will be responsible for the entire rent. The only exception is if the unit can be rented out on such short notice. A $25.00 administrative fee plus processing fee is charged on all cancellations.

Pets
Sorry - absolutely, positively NO PETS of any kind are permitted on or in the premises, so please make arrangements with a kennel or a pet sitter. If a pet is found on the premises your reservation will be terminated immediately. As Dr. Phil likes to say "That's a deal-breaker".

Phone/Fax:
You are welcome to place local calls. You will need your credit card to place a long distance call as the phone has been enabled with a long distance block. Cell phone reception is poor here in the mountains, however, there are some areas in Highlands where you will be able to place and receive cell phone calls.  If you just can't stay away from the office, you may send and receive faxes in our office between the hours of 10:00 AM through 5:00 PM. The rate is $1.00 for the first page and .50 for all pages thereafter.

Golf:
Many courses are private (in the Country Clubs), however, there are a few courses that are open to the public. Sapphire Mountain Golf Club, Sapphire, NC, 828-743-1174; Sky Valley Golf Club, Sky Valley, GA, 800-437-2416; Trillium Links, Cashiers, NC, 828-743-4251; Franklin Golf Course, Franklin, NC, 828-524-2288.

Housekeeping:
We do not provide daily housekeeping services. You are responsible for keeping the home clean and tidy. Upon departure, please strip beds used and check under bed for any personal items. Place linens in washing machine, wash all dishes or place in the dishwasher and place all bagged trash in trash can located on the outside deck. 

Shopping, Dining and Other Activities:
Please visit the Highlands Chamber of Commerce located on Main Street for the many things to do while staying in Highlands. You may call them at 828-526-2112 for information. Highlands is known as "the walking town" - so come prepared! We have an eclectic mix of shops where you can find everything from souvenirs, designer clothing, to unusual one-of-a kind, hand crafted mountain treasure. We are known for our beautiful hiking trails, wonderful restaurants and fantastic scenic views. And that's not all! Nearby there is golf, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, fishing, biking and boating. Only 1 mile from the cabin is the Blue Valley Overlook, going towards town (again only about a mile from the cabin) is Glen Falls. Approximately 5 miles out is Dry Falls where you can actually walk under the falls. Another "must see" is Sunset Rocks where you can gets a birds eye view of Higthlands.

Additional Info
Additional fees will be charged if there is destruction to the property or if decorations, furnishings or other items are missing from the cabin. Also, if the unit is left unusually dirty additional cleaning fees will apply. A $10.00 fee is charged if the keys are missing from the property.
